Radiation prevention methods at RSNA Chicago

Peter Bourne with a NASA space suit

Founder and Business Development Director of Multi-Ply, Peter Bourne has attended the RSNA, (Radiological Society of North America), show in Chicago for over 25 years and has seen many changes in the industry. The RSNA promotes excellence in patient care and health care delivery through education, research and technologic innovation and have over 53,000 members in 153 countries. We attend the Annual Show to demonstrate our carbon fibre products and meet personally with customers, colleagues and clients. On a recent trip Peter saw how NASA engineers design space suits to protect their astronauts from the extreme environment of space. There is a huge fluctuation in the temperatures from minus 250 degrees Fahrenheit in the shade, to 250 degrees above in the sun. The engineers include special shielding against radiation in the space suits they wear, and install the monitors to measure exposure rates that each astronaut is exposed to.
