Leading carbon component innovation to maximise project wins.

Product innovation plays a vital role in the manufacture of every carbon fibre component we make. It ensures all products reach the highest levels of engineering protocols and the needs and expectations of every customer. Our components are designed and manufactured for the end use, be it internal to medical equipment or for patient-contact.

Advanced development of products for patient comfort or multi-functional components is possible through exploring ergonomics and using the latest generation CAD software. Carbon component innovation includes assessing different tooling technologies best suited to specific requirements every time. Connections with a diverse supply chain provide opportunities for new material development or optimal material use, to reduce waste and maximise efficiency.

Our engineering team works closely with customers to develop innovative solutions to complex requirements. They consider many areas of development including;

  • Multifunctionality: Reducing component count and overall system cost by creating components with embedded electronics for heating and sensorisation whilst maintaining x-ray clarity
  • Material development: Working closely with leading material manufacturers to ensure the optimum material characteristics are leveraged for a given specification
  • Digital communication: Sharing high resolution x-ray images for quality certification across the supply chain through a secure platform
  • Tooling technologies: Continually developing new approaches to tooling to improve the ergonomics of components, the rate capability of our production and to alleviate manual handling concerns associated with manipulating large heavy tooling.

We have an experienced engineering team with over 80 years combined experience within the composite industry. They bring a history of writing and participating in UK and European funded CR&D programmes as well as close relationships with the UK High Value Manufacturing Catapult Network and multiple academic institutions. They are fully experienced in helping clients finalise design drawings and their key competencies include capability studies, PFMEA analysis and FAI studies etc.
