Bonding Technician

Reporting to: Value Stream Leader

Summary of Business: Multi-Ply is recognised as a world leader in the design and manufacture of carbon fibre components for the Medical
Imaging industry. Established for almost 35 years, our products are exported all over the world. Multi-Ply has
experienced strong business growth over the years and has recently progressed into a larger custom-built premises
based on Amy Johnson Way, Blackpool at the beginning of 2022.

Summary of Role: Reporting to the Value Stream Leader and working in a fast-paced environment with a highly motivated team, you
will demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with a strong ability to multi-task and work to a high standard within
tight deadlines. You will be responsible for bonding metal inserts to our medical imaging products, whilst ensuring
the quality of each part is of the highest standard expected by the Company.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Bonding of metal inserts onto carbon components using adhesive glue
  • Accurate assembling and disassembling of a jig
  • Following precise manufacturing instructions
  • Measuring the placement of the bonds to check they are positioned correctly
  • Quality inspection of components
  • Completion of conformance certificates
  • Documenting processes for bonded components

Key Skills:

  • Ability to work to precise tolerances and measurements with a good eye for detail
  • Ability to read and follow engineering drawings (desirable but full training will be provided)
  • Strong IT Skills with experience of using Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
  • Experience using measuring equipment such as faro arm, height gauge and vernier calliper (desirable but
    full training will be provided)
  • Knowledge or experience of composite bonding is desirable but not essential as full training will be given
  • Experience of quality assurance and Inspection
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team player

The Post holder is expected to work flexibly within the role. It is expected for the post holder to carry out activities
for which they are competent. Additionally, the post holder will also carry out additional duties upon request from
the Supervisor/Team Leader and/or Senior Management.

X-Ray Technician

Reporting to: Value Stream Leader

experienced strong business growth over the years and has recently progressed into a larger custom-built premises
based on Amy Johnson Way, Blackpool at the beginning of 2022.

Summary of Role: Reporting to the Value Stream Leader, and working within a team, you will be required to support the department in
the X-Ray of complex composite parts which are used in medical imaging machines, such as those used in
mammography or chest x-rays.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for machine clean downs and basic calibrations
  • Confident in using a Dremel (intricate work)
  • Inspecting completed components to ensure they meet the required standard before they leave the department
  • Ensuring that the components are properly protected for transportation to the next department
  • Responsible for maintaining all tools to a satisfactory condition and always ensuring adherence to health and safety requirements
  • Maintaining a safe and clean working environment

Key Skills:

  • Skilful in carrying out precise instructions by hand
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Able to follow verbal and written instructions accurately
  • IT background required with a good understanding of Excel and preferably photoshop or equivalent software (although this is not essential)
  • Strong mathematical background – training will be provided for reading drawings and understanding artifact sizes
  • Keen to learn new skills
  • Comfortable using hand tools, such as scissors and Dremel’s
  • Good communication skills
  • Fun, team player, who is helpful, flexible and cooperative

Manufacturing Operative

Reporting to: Value Stream Leader

experienced strong business growth over the years and has recently progressed into a larger custom-built premises
based on Amy Johnson Way, Blackpool at the beginning of 2022.

Summary of Role: Reporting to the Value Stream Leader and working in a fast-paced environment with a highly motivated team, you
will demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with a strong ability to multi-task and work to a high standard within
tight deadlines. We have a number of roles available within our Bonding, X-Ray and Machine shop areas.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

General

  • Following precise manufacturing instructions
  • Quality inspection of components
  • Completion of conformance certificates

Machine shop

  • Operating 3 and/or 5 axis CNC machines
  • Inspect and measure finished products to ensure they meet expected quality standards
  • Working to precise tolerances and measurements with excellent eye for detail
  • Tebis CAD/CAM Trim Trained and FARO CAM20 Trained (advantageous)

Bonding

  • Bonding of metal inserts onto carbon components using adhesive glue
  • Measuring the placement of the bonds to check they are positioned correctly
  • Accurate assembling and disassembling of a jig

X-Ray

  • Inspecting completed components to ensure they meet the required standard before they leave the department
  • Ensuring that the components are properly protected for transportation to the next department
  • Use of a Dremel for intricate work
